Birdwatching Group: Flooded road, so no Lesser Crested Tern*

Last Report of 2025
A few photographs from Edward; a good one of a Redwing ableing us to see its red wing, Lapwings taking off, a pair of Mallards, a Shoveler and a Christmassy berry picture.
This was on our last walk of the year which was at RSPB Exminster Marshes which as the name implies is marsh land. The marshes didn’t bother us but the flood at the usual susceptible bend on Station Road did although it wasn’t flooded (for that very morning) when I’d checked on line before we went. Whether we were wearing walking boots or wellies it was too deep to go through. So not the end of year we hoped for. But I must end on something positive ........it didn’t rain!

*A Lesser Crested Tern has been sighted on the Exe Estuary and at the Turf Lock, very near where we were headed had not the access road been flooded. It is a very striking bird and a rare vagrant to the UK.
