1 July 2026: Sidmouth Nature Explorers

Sidmouth Nature Explorers the SVA Knapp Nature Reserve

On Wednesday 1st of July a small group of 8 of us in total met up at the Knowle car park for an exploration of the SVA Knapp Nature Reserve to see what we could discover and what might be lurking in the undergrowth.

Alas no lions, leopards, monkeys, only the humble grasshopper, cricket, several unidentified beetles, lots of meadow brown butterflies, 1 comma, a few ringlets, 2 skippers and a six spot burnet.

On the wild flower front a good count of 23 different species, lots of bush vetch winding through the hedges looking very splendid, hogweeds, common knapweed, yellow rattle (Kevin's favourite) and the odd agrimony dotted around. Lost count and gave up on the many different grasses, quite a specialised subject??

All in all a very pleasant morning with good company.
