The group meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month. We are currently inactive until later in the year.

The group is aimed at both beginners and enthusiasts, people who are curious about how vine growing, wine making and the myriad factors – grape varieties, climate, marketing etc – that contribute to the finished wine.

Normally, the leader will introduce a topic with handout, which will then be illustrated practically with a tasting of four wines – using the senses of sight, smell, taste, mouth-feel and overall impression to judge the quality of the wine and its value for money.

Each summer we visit a local vineyard to meet the winemaker and sample their wines!

At Christmas we have a wine-and-food-matching lunch - with several courses and a variety of dishes (prepared by members) to be matched against 6 wines with different characteristics.

Please note that the group meetings are held in Budleigh Salterton.
